Swedish Air Force Historic Flight - RAF Waddington Airshow 06/07/13
On the 5th July 2013 I attended arrivals and on the 6th of July 2013 I attended the RAF Waddington Airshow.
The air display was terrific, the highlight for me was an appearence by the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight.
The flight, which is based at Såtenäs AB, sent 3 aircraft, a Saab 105 SK 60E, registration SE-DXG/140/5,
which is painted and marked as it looked in the 1960s. The SK60 still has its original Turbomeca (RM9) engines.
The Saab AJS-37 Viggen, registration SE-DXN/52 which is resplendant in a glorious unpainted silver finish.
The engine in the aircraft is a Pratt & Whitney JT8D-22 that has been modified by Volvo Powerplant to
full afterburner status with engine reversal (Volvo Aero RM8A).
The third aircraft the flight sent was the Saab J 29F Tunnan, registration SE-DXB/10/R. The aircraft was owned by
the Swedish Air Force Museum, but was restored to flyable condition by the F10 Fellowship.
The aircraft was originally built as a J 29B, but modified to "F" standard in 1957.
Since 2006 it has been with the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight.
