English Electric Canberra B(I)8/B.6 MOD WT333 Anti-Det run at
Bruntingthorpe Airfield on the 11th April 2015
The English Electric Canberra B(I)8/B.6 MOD WT333 that lives at Bruntingthorpe Airfield in Leicestershire
was due one of its regular Anti-Det runs to blow away any cobwebs and to make sure the aircraft was in good order
prior to its first run in front of the public at Bruntingthorpe for the first Open Day of 2015 which is to be held on May 23rd.
Saturday 11th April 2015 was the day chosen for the run. The weather in the early morning was not good
with heavy rain and dark, threatening skies. Fortunately, by 10am, the rain had cleared and the Anti-Det run was a 'go'!
The aircraft was to be piloted by Bob Tuxford together with a couple of engineers who had come for the day
to tweak the engines to make sure they were running at their optimum. WT333 was to be 'Static' run from the
pan where Vickers VC-10, ZD241/N is sited which is well away from where she normally lives, alongside 'Teasin Tina',
Bruntingthorpe's resident Handley Page Victor, as a couple of the engine runs would be at full power!
WT333 performed faultlessly as usual, she's a real tribute to the team who look after & maintain the aircraft.
My thanks go to Stephen Reglar and all the ground crew & engineers for their hospitality and
also to Pilot Bob Tuxford for a very enjoyable and noisy day!
I was also able to photograph a few other aircraft on the airfield during the day including the freshly painted
Hawker Hunter T.7 XL565/Y and very nice she looks too!
