North Weald Airfield Community Day

North Weald held another of its Community Days on the 5th of June 2011.

I arrived at around 10am and thankfully there were very few people around so I managed

to get some uncluttered static shots with very few legs and feet in the way

The layout of the aircraft, this time, was different so I'm glad I got there

early. Once again there was that traditional North Weald warm and friendly atmosphere.

The day was very enjoyable, unfortunately the weather intervened late in the afternoon

but it didn't spoil things too much.

Aircraft taking part included Kennet Aviation's Supermarine Seafire SX336,

and Douglas Skyraider 126922/503 resplendent in its brand new colour scheme,

a couple of Westland Wasps XT787 and XT435, numerous Provosts of various

different types, a RNHF Hawker Sea Fury, VX281, DH Chipmunk G-BBMN,

Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina, JV928, North American Harvard, 42-84555 and AT-6D Texan 8084,

a Stearman, N4712V, De Havilland Vampire, WZ507 and two

North American P-51D Mustangs, "Janie", 414419 and "Marinell", 413521.

From the RAF, ZF343, a Shorts Tucano T.1, BBMF Supermarine Spitfire PR XIX, PM631,

together with the HAC's Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb, BM597 and Hawker Hurricane XII Z5140.

another aircraft of note was the Morane-Saulnier M.S.733 Alcyon, G-MSAL.
