Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron Vampires in new
RAF 72 Squadron paint scheme arrive at North Weald 11/06/18
On the 11th of June 2018 I made another visit to North Weald Airfield in Essex.
I was there to photograph the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron's
two Vampires, which had been repainted & were now wearing the colours of
the RAF's 72 Squadron, a Squadron which was previously based at North Weald.
The aircraft, a De Havilland Vampire T.55, the two seat model & a single seat
De Havilland Vampire FB-52 had been repainted at their home base at Rygge in Norway
to commemorate & celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RAF.
The aircraft arrived just before 1PM, having flown in after appearing at a display at Aalborg
in Denmark the previous day. The T.55 was flown by Team Manager Kenneth Aarkvisla with Wayne Fuller
also in the cockpit & the single seat FB-52 was flown by Martin 'TinTin' Tesli of
the Norwegian Air Force.
The T.55 Vampire, LN-DHZ, now also wears the RAF serial WZ447 & the FB.52 Vampire, LN-DHY
also wears the RAF serial VZ305/N. Both aircraft look absolutely stunning wearing their new colours.
I must say it's really great to see the team back in the UK at their second home of North Weald.
