VE Day 80th Anniversary Flypast
Monday 5th May 2025
The 5th of May 2025 was the day chosen to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, 8th May 1945
& to celebrate a flypast was held, taking part would be 23 aircraft, which would fly, in formation,
down The Mall & over Buckingham Palace.
The flypast would contain aircraft from the Royal Air Force, led by Avro Lancaster B.1, PA474 from the
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight based at RAF Coningsby. This would be followed by several waves of aircraft
with the Red Arrows bringing up the rear flying in formation with 4 Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4's
also based at RAF Coningsby, the Reds now operate out of RAF Waddington.
The weather, was a major improvement on what we had for the King's Birthday Flypast in 2024
with patches of blue sky & NO Rain!
At around 13.40PM the first of the formation reached my position, it was Avro Lancaster PA474,
unfortunately, it was out of view being further out than I'd expected, I did however, catch the rest of the Flypast.
